Nagarkot Dhulikhel Namobuddha Hiking
This is one of the shortest trekking routes, 3-6 days, and is close to Kathmandu. It is also a relatively easy trek and suitable for families and children. The trek starts at Sundarijal, in Shivapuri National Park and you climb out of the Kathmandu valley beside the pools and falls of the Bagmati River to the charming village of Chesapani on the lip of the Kathmandu valley. From here you have views towards Kathmandu (30km away) on one side and the Himalayas on the other.
The trail the leads to Nagarkot at 2175m. which has the most spectacular, uninterrupted views of the Eastern Himalayas, From here you can see Everest as well as the peaks of Langtang, Ganesh Himal and Annapurna. Nagarkot has long been a favourite destination for those wishing to see sunrise and sunset over the Himalayas. There are a wide variety of places to stay in Nagarkot including some top class hotels.

Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal and Hike to Chisapani (1750 m)
After having breakfast a bit early in the morning, we drive to Sundarijal. It is a busy picnic spot of the valley-dwellers on public holidays. Lush greenery, sources of water and serene environment greet us as soon as we reach there. From here, our hike to Chisapani starts. Walking through a few settlements and a lot of forest with variety of birds and chances of sighting animals, we arrive at Chisapani. There is an added fun of having packed lunch on the way. The total duration of the hike is nearly five hours. Chisapani is a Sherpa village, offering grand views of the mountains. Relieve yourself in the evening by watching a picturesque sunset from the village, and retire to a teahouse to spend the night.
Day 02: Hike from Chisapani to Nagarkot 7 hours hike (1950 m)
We get up in the morning, have our breakfast and head towards Nagarkot from Chisapani. This is a relatively demanding day that requires you to walk for about 7 hours. But the trail passes mostly through dense forest of the national park, making you forget the tiredness. We pause our hike for a while in Chauki Bhanjyang or Jhule to have lunch and take a short rest. Then we continue along the idyllic countryside to Nagarkot, a hilltop to the east of Kathmandu offers unmatched scenery of innumerable peaks along a large section of the Himalayas. Surely the setting sun fires your spirit and inspires your imagination with the shades of colour it leaves on the Himalayas. In the evening, stay in a good hotel of the area.
Day 03: Hike from Nagarkot- Dhulikhel (1440 m)
After having sunrise view from Nagarkot, we will have hot breakfast at hotel then we approach Dhulikhel, a glut of cultural diversities, traditional practices and lush vegetation, the Dhulikhel is a small town of Newar with a long history, according to the records it has been around for more than 500 years and the artistic skill and urban ethos of its Newar inhabitants have created a place of charm and we will have sunrise view and overnight at lodge.
Day 04: Dhulikhel- Namobuddha ( 1750m./5775ft.) 4 hours hike
After having sunrise view from Dhulikhel and breakfast at lodge, we start our hike. The trail climbs up to the Kali Mandir, a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali and the trail drops down to the village of Kavre and past a line of shops and tea houses, then climbs again through pine woods past Phulbari and up and down a couple of more hills before we reach the hill of Namobuddha. It is very important Buddhist Pilgrimage located in Kavre District about 38 km east of Kathmandu and the Stupa and shrines built in this lovely little hill mark a very ancient holy site where a legendary prince named Mahasattva offered to a starving Tigress with several underfed cubs, the legendary episode is depicted in a stone slab and placed right next to a holy Stupa, after visiting the Namobuddha we stay in Nomabuddha hostel
Day 05: Namobuddha-Panauti- Kathmandu ( 1300m./4290ft.)
Early morning hike to a hill where the Buddhist monastery is situated. It is historical place. You also could see good view of Kathmandu valley from there. After making a round walk from left at Buddhist Stupa hike down to Panauti and return to Kathmandu overland.

It is mandatory to enter this route. The fee is fixed NPR 500 per person for foreigner and NPR 300 per person for SAARC citizen. You are required passport copy to obtain it. You can pay directly at Sundarijal check post. We have included in the package.
Clothing equipment for Nagarkot Dhulikhel Namobuddha Hiking
When you select your personal items, keep in mind the number of days you will be trekking, the time of year and the altitude. We advise our clients to bring these items:
- Lightweight hiking boots "walked" them in prior to arrival in Nepal to avoid blisters or sport shoes.
- Light weight pants, shirts
- T-shirts.
- Long sleeve shirt, if susceptible to sunburn.
- Sun hat - sunburn is severe at rarefied altitudes.
- Vaseline for feet and crutch.
- Water bottle - 2 liters.
- Sunglasses and strap
- Personal medical supplies - do not forget ban - aids, elastic bandage
- Sunscreen, sun bock, sun - tan lotion.
- Small daypack - 25 liters.
- Rain jacket - poncho style to cover backpack.
- Warm jacket during winter.
Physical Condition & Experience Requirements : Nagarkot Dhulikhel and Namobuddha hiking is easy level of hike, suitable for passionate walkers who have the ability to walk at least 5-6 hours a day with a light rucksack. As we will get the highest elevation 1950 meter, you won't have to worry about acute mountain sickness ( AMS) though you are preferred an excellent health with average physical fitness then we can accomplish the trek successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly is good idea to enhance our strength and stability. Past hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skill is required for this trip. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Nepal alternative treks before booking the hike.
Accommodation: We will arrange twin share basis room in Chisapani and Nagarkot Dhulikhel , Namo Buddha at one of the most recommended hotel.
Meals: During hiking, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.) at hotel. There will be provided breakfast, lunch and dinner three times along the route on your choice from MENU .
